PDF to text
Extract the existing text layer from a PDF, preview it page by page, and copy or download a TXT file. Free, local processing. No OCR or account needed.
Your text and files stay in this browser. No account or upload needed.
When is this useful?
Pull a passage from a report into your notes, make a manual searchable in a text editor, or prepare reference material for reading. This extracts text, not the PDF's visual layout. For side-by-side translated reading, use the original PDF in iSomor instead.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my scanned PDF empty?
A scan may contain only images. This tool reads the existing text layer and does not perform OCR. Pages with no readable text are flagged; try a PDF exported from the original document.
Does TXT preserve the PDF layout?
No. Text follows the PDF's content order with simple line-break reconstruction. Columns, tables and mathematical notation can become jumbled. Each exported page is separated by a form-feed character.
Which page numbers should I enter?
Use file positions starting at 1, including covers. For example, 1-3, 5 selects the first three pages and the fifth. Duplicate pages appear once, in the order you request.
Want the translation alongside the original layout?
Go to PDF translationTranslation is a separate cloud service. It requires uploading a text-based PDF and follows normal account and credit rules. This tool will not upload files automatically.
